Data Protection Solutions by Arco, a long established leader in low-cost disk mirroring and drive to drive backup hardware, today announced the CopyKluge. Designed for use with DPS-Arco's EzCOPY™ DD4 SATA hard drive duplicator, the CopyKluge offers a simple, economical way to seamlessly migrate from an IDE to Serial ATA (SATA) or a SATA to IDE drive.
The EzCOPY™ is an affordable stand-alone drive duplicator aimed at resellers, OEMs, system integrators, IT support specialists and service technicians. Because the EzCOPY™ does not connect to a computer, it requires no installation or software, no computer time and virtually no user intervention. All that's required is to insert the source and destination drives into its two removable drive trays, slide the trays into the device and push the start button. A front panel LED provides status information, allowing the user to easily identify copy direction or abort a copy if necessary. In addition to making a complete mirror image of the source drive, the EzCOPY™ can also be set to do a "fast" (block level) copy of only the occupied portion of the drive.
Based on the company's unique DD4 drive duplication technology, the EzCOPY™ works by transferring a bit by bit copy of the original onto the target drive, rapidly moving data at less than one minute per gigabyte. It can duplicate drives of up to 144 petabytes. The EzCOPY™ is virtually maintenance free and can be used to copy to and from drives of dissimilar sizes as well as between drives from different manufacturers.
The CopyKluge, a $99 factory installed option that can now be ordered with the EzCopy™ DD4 (MSRP $699), allows an IDE drive to be connected via an external cable. It permits copying in either direction.
