What is RAID 1

RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks) is a way of storing the same data on multiple hard disks. RAID level 1, also called disk mirroring or drive mirroring, utilizes a second drive to provide real-time hard drive backup. This means that when you write a file, the file is actually written to two disks. If one of the disk fails, the other drive will take over preventing downtime. Simply replace the failed drive and rebuild the mirror.
