Installing a DD3 or DD4 unit on a Dell machine will
sometimes cause the client to fail to boot.
Cause: The Dell machine is failing to recognize the new hardware.
Corrective Action: Resetting the BIOS and Clearing the NVRAM is required. Please follow these steps:
- Enter system setup by pressing the <F2> key while the system is booting up.
- Once in the system setup, turn on all the lights on the keyboard by pressing the <Caps Lock> key, <Scroll Lock> key, and the <Num Lock> key.
- Press the <Alt> and <F> keys at the same time (usually it is 1 time).
You'll hear a system beep if done correctly.
- Press the <Alt> and <E> keys at the same time (usually it is 3 times).
You should only hear one beep. If you hear multiple beeps, repeat this step until only one beep is heard.
- Press the <Alt> and <B> keys at the same time.
The system reboots.
